Helpful Tips for Your Watches Long Life: Sport and Watches
by Dino on 22 January, 2008

Always read the recommendations in the watch's manual as these will include advice about sporting activities. As a general rule, mechanical watches require particular caution and are best not worn for sports involving sudden or powerful movements, for example golf, mountain-biking, tennis or squash. Quartz watches are better suited to this type of activity as the quartz module is more robust. Leather straps are not suited to sports wear. Metal, rubber or acrylic bracelets are the better choice.
A watch should be cleaned after any type of sport. Use a soft brush and a little soap to clean a metal bracelet then rinse it in clear water. Wipe a leather strap with a dry cloth.
