One starts to yearn for knowledge about the inner working of mechanical movements or about the century long histories of the manufacturers. One will tend to take excessive amounts of pictures and videos of the fine watches in one's boutique and obsess over every fabulous detail. Jason on ABlogtoRead - On Vintage Watches

This week I’ve contributed an editorial to ABlogtoRead, one of the world’s foremost watch blogs run by Mr. Ariel Adams in the United States. Ariel’s focus is on new timepieces, so as a counterpoint I wrote an account of vintage watch collecting – more specifically, why lunatics like myself are passionate about “old” watches.
Working here at Matt Baily I get to handle some spectacular vintage pieces, and we here at the store pride ourselves on our knowledge of the collector’s market. I hope my opinions and views of the collector’s market express some of the fascination I hold with vintage timepieces, and perhaps inspire some of our readers to look into vintage pieces they might otherwise overlook.
