The Hamilton X-Copter propels timekeeping to new heights
Basel 4.3.2008 - The new X-Copter by Hamilton
is fully equipped for action, with high-flying design and functionality. Flight preparation begins with a practical Fahrenheit/Celsius temperature converter and 'ascends' to a Maximum Take-off Weight (M.T.O.W.) calculator. Design detail is also dedicated to the helicopter theme, giving the impression that with the addition of rotor blades this timepiece would independently take to the skies.
Flying by sight
The design of the X-Copter clearly signals its message of precision and finesse. The bezel bears fine markings indicating compass bearings, temperature scales and seconds - cockpit style. These are contrasted with easily visible key numbers for rapid orientation, assisted by the pointed arrow hands showing the way. Orange touches add dynamism and are reminiscent of helicopter navigation. There is even a bold letter 'H' at 6 o'clock - the ultimate miniaturized 'helipad' - and a cut out propeller at the rear of the case to reveal the automatic 'motor' at work.
Spot on
The chronograph counters, displaying the hours, minutes and seconds, are framed with small dots
like the rivets used in aerospace construction. Access to the watch's functionality is via easy to grip buttons with lacquered tops. The M.T.O.W. calculator is positioned at 9 o'clock - an eye-catching extension of the minutes counter. And holding position is the domain of stitched straps in sporty black or orange rubber, or an elegant metal bracelet for the true blade runner at heart.
