Bell & Ross is best known for it’s Instrument series of watches, but they produce a number of interesting designs. It’s the price of their fame – the massive popularity of the Instrument has overshadowed a lot of their other offerings, which is a shame as Bell & Ross produces some very interesting watches - that aren’t square. One of my favourites outside of the Instrument collection is the BR02 Diver, a massive 44mm tonneau-shaped tool watch that stands out in a sea of ho-hum dive watch designs.

Having written recently about the U-Boat U-1001/1, I took a brief plunge into the world of diving watches and what they offer. There are very specific requirements for a watch to be considered a diving watch. While these features are outlined in detail by international standards, the most important ones can be summarized by considering what is essential to underwater timepieces. They must function when submerged and under great pressure and allow the wearer to easily and quickly measure the elapsed time at different crucial instances during the dive.

New to the Bell & Ross BR line is the BR02 models in stainless steel and black carbon finishes. These models have a curved feel beautifully finished in polished and brushed stainless steel, or glass bead blasted steel with black finishing type (carbon powder coating), Bell & Ross BR02 18K Pink gold and carbon, and Bell & Ross BR02 solid 18K pink gold.

We have just received the new BR02 models. These watches are big and masculin. Perfectly finished with a high polished case and brushed steel bezel. Very comfortable on the wrist. Tough enough to go 1000 meter swimming and elegant enough for a 5 star dinner.
